Albany Creek Club High Achievers

Our Club is certainly a hive of talent when it comes to positions at Zone and District level.  

Congratulations to Steve Hood for his award as Zone District Chairman of the Year - it is wonderful  to see that all the great work he's done has been recognised.  

Congratulations also to Kaye Smith for her successful nomination as 2nd Vice District Governor 2010-2011 announced at the recent Conference in Caloundra.

Bunnings Barbecue

On Sunday, 18 October, we’ve been lucky to be granted another Bunnings Barbecue at Aspley.   As many of you know, this is a very busy location and a great fundraiser for the club.  Please keep the date free so that you can come along and lend a hand for a few hours on the day.

Dinner Meeting

Just a reminder that the District Governor,  Heather Short, will be visiting the club on Wednesday, 21 October.  For a little light reading see her latest District newsletter.   The meeting will be held at the Bunya Club starting at 7:30 pm.  The Club’s AGM will be held briefly afterwards.

Chaplains Trivia Night

On 24th October, there will be a Trivia Night at the Albany Hills State School with proceeds going to the School Chaplains in the area.    Let Steve know if you’re interested in coming along for a fun night.

Lions donate blood

If you are planning to donate blood between 1 November 2009 and 31 January 2010, remember to get a form from Kaye or Steve beforehand.    The nurse at the Blood Bank will fill it out and totals will be given to Lions for the district.   (Note:  this form can be handed in any non-Lions members giving blood so if you know someone who gives blood regularly, ask them to take a form along and their donation will be added to the district tally).

Christmas Cakes

Remember that our club has Christmas cakes for sale at a  cost of $13.00 for the 1.5kg cake and $10.00 for the 1kg cake.    Supplies are available from Mike Harris.   Let your family and friends know you have and to place their orders otherwise they may miss out!!

Lions Medical Research Personality Quest

We are delighted that Steve and Sharon Hood’s daughter, Megan, has agreed to represent our Club this year and to raise much needed funds for Medical Research.   If you have any ideas about fundraising activities this year, keep Megan in mind.
